Asus premiers film-friendly laptop
With HD screen and spill-proof keyboard
Agentless Backup is Not a Myth
A 10in netbook’s handy for mobile workers, but if you spend as much time watching films on your laptop as your do working then Asus’ latest 17.3in machine could be right up your alley.

Asus's F70: has movies at its heart
Described as a personal entertainment notebook, the F70’s larger-than-average screen sports a 16:9 aspect ratio and 1080p resolution. Add to the mix integrated Altec Lansing surround-sound speakers and you’ve got a decent audio and visual set-up for watching movies on the move.
But if the F70’s screen does prove too small, then the notebook features an HDMI port for connection into a larger HD display.
It’s worth noting that the machine has an integrated DVD drive, but there’s no option to add in a Blu-ray drive.
The machine is available with either a 2.16GHz T5850 (667MHz frontside bus, 2MB of L2 cache) or 2.26GHz P8400 (1066MHz, 3MB) Intel Core 2 Duo processor and up to 4GB of DDR 2 memory.
It’s equipped with an eight-in-one memory card reader, can connect to the web over 802.11n Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet jack, and features Bluetooth 2.1.
The F70 measures roughly 466 x 309 x 39mm and has a "spill-proof" chiclet-style keyboard.
Asus' F70 is available now, with prices starting at £859 ($1252/€966). ®
