Ofcom guns for Hollywood with roaming vid

UK regulator Ofcom has put together a video to remind the public to be careful using a mobile phone abroad, as roaming rates are still unreasonably high and legislation is still being enacted.

While we'd like nothing more than to chide Ofcom for wasting huge sums of money on Hollywood aspirations, the film actually seems to have been shot for about tuppence, probably costing slightly less than the accompanying pdf.

In summary: if you're travelling then it's worth remembering that calls cost more when you're abroad, the recently-imposed caps only apply within the EC, and right now they only apply to voice calls.

Ofcom does provide information about the tariffs offered by all the network operators, but only through links to the operators' sites, so be prepared to do some trawling, depending on your operator. ®
