Low-end Nüvifone to make 'satnav simple'

For navigation novices

Application security programs and practises

Yet another Nüvifone has been unveiled by Garmin-Asus: the G60, which appears to have been built for less technologically-mind fellows.

The Nüvifone G60: makes GPS simple

That’s because the G60’s described as an “easy-to-use” device that helps answer all those perplexing questions like "Where am I?", "Where am I going" and "How do I get home?". 'What’s the meaning of life?' and 'Why am I here?' don’t seem to be covered, though.

For example, press the “Where am I?” icon, and the G60 will pinpoint your current location on the screen. This can be done while making a call and additional information, such as the nearest hospital, is also displayed.

Equipped with quad-band GSM/GPRS/Edge coverage, 7.2Mb/s HSDPA 3G and Wi-Fi support, the G60 has a large 3.5in display that features just three primary icons: Call, Search and View Map.

A 3Mp camera's also included

Secondary icons are shown on the side of the home screen and can be organised however you want, but the primary icons seem to have been designed to make using the G60 child’s play.

Much like the M20 nuvifone, launched earlier today, the G60 has traditional satnav mapping features and location-based services to help you find, say, a fried chicken shop at 3am in Dorset.

An application that brings together various location-based social networks has also been included.

Garmin-Asus hasn’t announced a launch date or price for the G60 yet. ®
