Adobe relaunches AIR developer's trading website

Roll up, roll up

Adobe Systems hoped for second time lucky yesterday with the relaunch of its directory of AIR applications that it has dubbed “Marketplace”.

Users can finally search for around 400 Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) apps - the firm’s rich web product - by both name and developer.

"The goal of the release is to provide a more user friendly destination for showcasing and downloading AIR applications," said Adobe yesterday.

The site, which remains in beta, also features four new RSS feeds that display “staff picks”, “most recently added”, “most popular” and “highest rated” apps. However Marketplace doesn’t include pricey, premium apps – at least not yet, anyway.

Behind the scenes, AIR developers can now manage the different flavours of their hosted apps as well as keep an eye on downloads and customer reviews by seeing what’s hot and what’s not. ®
