Sony confirms upcoming PSP update

But doesn't talk details

Sony is keeping mysteriously quiet about the benefits of its latest PlayStation Portable firmware update.

As usual, Eric Lempel, Director of PlayStation Network Operations, broke news of the impending update – to be called version 5.03 - on the official PlayStation blog.

He said simply that the firmware is “a small update that improves system stability during [the] use of some features”.

Lempel’s statement probably raises more questions about the update than it answers, but it’s probably safe to assume that 5.03 – which follows 5.02, released back in November – will aim to reduce system crashes during gameplay.

An availability date for 5.03 hasn’t been confirmed yet. ®
