Brummie hack Adam Smith earlier this week quit his post at the Birmingham Post and Mail, having evidently pondered his future at some length through the bottom a glass at an Obama victory bash in Florida.

According to the Press Gazette, his former employer is "currently in the midst of a round of cost-cutting with many journalists taking voluntary redundancy". Smith splendidly demonstrated to a TV interviewer just how we Brits do voluntary redundancy:
