NZ's Wellington City Council has promised to remove a sign in the suburb of Highbury which proudly alerts the public of the location of Old Bollock Rd, the New Zealand Herald reports [1].

Council spokesman Richard MacLean described the reclassification of Old Bullock Rd as an "astounding" error and admitted "someone had obviously not read the old sign too clearly".*

MacLean confirmed the offending sign was for the off, adding that the council had "already had numerous calls from people wanting to get their hands on it". He said: "We're having an informal discussion now about what to do with the sign when it finally does come down... anything could happen cause clearly it's an instant classic and a trophy."

The Herald concludes by quoting the obligatory irate local, who thundered: "I'm all for better signage for footpaths but at least they should get the name right. This is a real balls-up."

*Yes, we were thinking the same thing - there was nothing wrong with either the eyesight or the spelling skills of whichever wag knocked together this signage.
