Mash it up with online gods at reMix08

It’s in the reMix, baby

Microsoft’s reMix08 lands on the golden beaches of Brighton next month and The Register can help you get there on the cheap.

We’ve barracked the Microsoft marketing bods into giving Reg readers a tasty discount for the event. It normally costs £349 (including VAT), but by using the following claims code you and all of your colleagues can get a very tempting £50 discount on every ticket you buy.

Discount code: XBs40dt (Case sensitive)

When you buy a ticket it clearly asks you to enter a discount code if you have one, so type it in there and it will automagically discount your purchase.

But why bother with reMix08, we hear you ask? This particular gig looks like a cracker for anyone messing around with Web apps – be they developer or designer.

The whole event is billed as a highly interactive mash-up where you can digest keynotes from such luminaries as Bill Buxton and Scott Guthrie. Buxton, head man at Microsoft Research, is considered something of a god when it comes to online innovation, while Guthrie is the driving force behind the development teams at Microsoft for Silverlight, WPF and ASP.NET. So if anyone can tackle your questions, it’s these two.

Aside from that, the agenda for the two-day affair promises wide-ranging sessions on everything from ‘Digital Media at Work and Play’ to ‘Embracing Open Source on CodePlex’ and insight on the ‘XNA Game Studio: What can it do and how to get started’. Mobile platforms get a solid look-in with a session on the ‘Mobile User Experience – Inspiring new ways of design and development’ as does Cloud computing with a program on ’SQL Server Data Services’.

And if that hasn’t convinced you, then get this. At the end of day one there is the promise of beer followed by an ‘Evening Love-In’ hosted in what Microsoft describes as a cool, interactive, ultra funky environment right out of the 70s. That’s right, folks. Geeks, beer, love and the 70s - a heady combination indeed.

You can get your tickets right here.

And don’t forget your discount code, XBs40dt (Case sensitive). ®
