Gaming execs may think the future of consoles lies in unique controller (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/05/28/controllers_define_consoles/) designs, but one firm is trying to get PC gamers to control games with everything from plastic bottles to Windows user guide booklets.

Cam-Trax Technologies claims to have developed a “unique patented software solution” that can track any object in real-time with reliability and precision. Although very little has been said about how the software actually works, the firm has stated that all the tracking is done through a web cam.

In a promotional video, gamers are shown holding all sorts of various objects in front of a web cam, including what looks like a lump of wood. Cam-Trax’s software appears to quickly map the size and shape of each object, before allowing them to be used to control on-screen games.

Unfortunately, the software isn’t available to purchase yet.
