A phone using digital imaging fuzzy-logic to work out where you are seems a bit of overkill when a quick check with a few GPS signals will do the same!

But I like the seamless device-to-device idea.

I can also see the day when when typing on the back of seat tray allows me to send e-mail with my neighbour's blackberry. When I can stand outside a conference room and send cartoons to the projector. Recognising a place from a photo of a landmark is challenging. Far easier to use GPS or mast numbers. Anyone want to index wikipedia by lat/long?

We do not need an expensive CPU for any of this, just open standards.

Reminds me of last year's "M$ Table" concept, mixed up with some illigitimate version of face recognition software... and I thought that the table was a joke until I saw the parody about it. I suppose it must be difficult being based in Shanghai, with your primary window on the world limited to a sanitised version of the truth.

The only other concern I have is this increasing emphasis on making things smaller... I already need one of the largest mobile devices - a Blackberry - in order to send texts because I cannot accurately differentiate between the tiny little buttons on a normal mobile phone. I am the {future dominated by people "typing enormously quickly with their thumbs"} that Kevin Kahn takes exception to.

Connectivity may be the goal but it's highly unlikely to improve matters. I can see Powerpoint presentations arguing as to which one should go first as people turn up for a meeting.

It'll also be great for cabin crew to see all the Viagra spam photo's as they are displayed on the backs of seats.

...I want to go to Shanghai expenses paid...even if I have to spend a few hours ligging about listening to people talk cobblers.

Long long time ago, when there was DOS there was a wonderful error code that we used to have loads of laughs over.. it was a I/O Error.. well "technically" its Input/Output Error but we all agreed that it was REALLY IdiotOperator Error...

Yeah.. bring back the I/O error codes...
