Sage settles on US head

Telecoms player gets the nod

Sage, the finance and small business software provider, has appointed a new boss for its US business.

Sue Swenson has 20 years telecoms experience, including time with Pacific Bell and T-Mobile. She was chief executive of Cellular One - the mobile joint venture set up by Vodafone Airtouch and AT&T Wireless.

Sage's board of directors took action in October to change US management.

Chief executive Ron Verni and chief financial officer Jim Ecjstaedt were both ousted because: "The board has concluded that a change in leadership is required to realise the full potential of this business."

Swenson joins Sage as CEO and president of its North American business. She will also sit on Sage's executive management committee and will attend board meetings. ®
