... about the time IBM and Hitachi have figured out the high-k and 32nm production techniques Intel will have 100,000s of 32nm chips out and be prototyping 25nm .. way to catch up !

I thought 45nm is track size, not chip size. How do you solder 45nm small chips?

One can use smaller track size to boost number of transistors (e.g. cache memory and number of processing units) and shrink power consumption while retaining similar chip size.

What makes you think intel will be first to 32nm?
