Netbanx, the UK-based payment processor, has apologised for web application glitches that affected the ability of some ecommerce sites to take orders.

Reg reader Jon told us that ecommerce sites using Netbanx were "ground to a halt" yesterday. A spokesman for Neteller, which runs Netbanx as well as digital wallet and other ecommerce services, said the service was running but acknowledged some merchants had experienced "performance issue".

He explained that problems with third party replication, specifically to do with validating payment data, were to blame. The software-related issue was reported to Netbanx around 9am UK time on Thursday and resolved by early afternoon, he added.

Netbanx's clients include UK utility npower, charity Barnado's, price comparison site Moneysupermarket and the Environment Agency. ®
