Dell will accept any old reason for jumping onto its data center service wagons and sniffing around your machinery.

The company plans to triple its services business within three years. Clearly, that's a large order to fill, so they're rolling out all sorts of service packages.

The bountifully syllabic "Dell Storage Simplification Assessments Portfolio," includes a looksie-loo at server virtualization; data management and storage gear; and backup restore and archiving.

Breakin' it down:

Storage for Server Virtualization Assessment: evaluates a customers existing storage infrastructure to make sure data is properly managed in virtualized environments.

Backup, Restore and Archive Assessment: analyzes an organization's entire backup and restoration process to address recovery time objectives.

Data Management and Storage Technology Assessment: looks at existing storage infrastructure to determine what stuff you need to buy.

Dell claims it completes the consulting "in days, instead of weeks," by using "non-disruptive tools and processes." Neat. The services will be offered through Dell registered partners. ®
