Union accuses Capita on job losses

Belfast staff must reapply

Unite, the union formerly known as Amicus, is accusing IT services giant Capita of breaking its promises not to cut staff in Belfast.

The 116 workers in Capita's life and pensions department in Belfast must now reapply for the remaining 75 positions.

Graham Goddard, deputy general secretary of Unite, said: "Capita have failed in their promise to secure the long term future of their life and pensions operation. The announcement of 41 job losses today represents another blow for Capita staff in Belfast..."

The union will strongly oppose compulsory redundancies and is urging Capita to honour promises to the workforce.
