Surely the joys of working in sunny Leeds is payment enough.

Is it part of a new cost reducing initiative?

It seems to fit in well with how the sector manages itself (unfortunately)

That kind of thing appears on the jobsites all the time. It's just lazy recruitment agents.

Dunno about you but I think I'd have to limit myself to half the hours so I've got time left over to enjoy the heady night-life we all know of as central Leeds. I'll even hold your coat.

Wasn't it St James Hospital in Leeds where they couldn't afford aircon in the server room, so when they booted up £1m of new kit it instantly went supernova?

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/09/27/leeds_server_overheat/

If that's the case maybe the low salary is because they've decided to buy some cooling for the replacement servers

Why pay anything ....... just supply an NHS Credit/Debit Card for Living Work Costs/Expenses? IT would allow for a very Transparent Mutual Mentoring and Monitoring and Responsible Behaviour with Service Excellence permitting Added Credits.

Or is the idea that everyone gets rich for just doing what they do best or being employed?

Pah, IT recruitment agencies are the arseholes of the western world.

Responding to an ad for a linux sysad post & the tossers only accept CV's in monopoly word format. I ask you?

A nonny mouse 'cause my employer reads El Reg :-)

No I think the reason they didn't get the aircon was becouse they paid £1 for the project manager.

Having seen the trouble he had just project managing setting up his drum kit, nothing would surprise me any more. Needless to say, very few beats arrived on schedule.

I would say he was potentially the original inspiration for the "only have to beat it once into a drum machine" joke, but that would be unfair to all the other useless drummers I've met.

At last, they are offering a salary that matches what most NHS managers are worth.

Perhaps they can use the money they are saving to pay some doctors and nurses decent wages.

Paying the 1 pound is just a statutory requirement.

The incumbent will also get;

. Free NHS hospital food

. Stay in an NHS bed*

. Use NHS bathrooms

. Get free medical

. Get free NHS transport

* when available.

Uh oh, AMFM sounds lucid again. Time for a coldboot where IT matters, perhaps? Better yet, send him to the States as a political adviser. Booyah! (And now you expect a witty summary re: Blue v. Red thinking? Here?! Naah, someone else already said IT wisely: "All seemed well pleased, all seemed but were not all.")

^ Now there is someone who knows very little about the NHS if they think the Doctors and Nurses should get more pay. They get paid too much as it is, don't believe the media hype that they are hard done by, Because they certainly aren't.

Well, the money which makes up the salaries of the board of Directors has to come from somewhere, doesn't it?

Dead Vulture

The REAL amanfromMars has a particular style and ITs messages are decipherable if you know the trick. So it's easy to spot the fakes - if the message doesn't decipher, it's not the real amanfromMars!

The dead vulture because El Reg allows multiple readers to use the same name.
