Barron Hilton donates fortune to charity

Paris to work for a living?

There looks to be a possibility that highly-talented heiress Paris Hilton might one day have to work for a living following the announcement by her grandad Barron that he intends to donate 97 per cent of his $2.3bn fortune to charity.

The cash will benefit the Conrad N Hilton Foundation, which "supports projects that provide clean water in Africa, education for blind children and housing for the mentally ill", as the BBC explains.

He'll stump $1.2bn immediately "to a charitable trust that will eventually benefit the foundation", with the remainder to follow after he pops his clogs.

The Beeb suggests the billionaire, who acquired his fortune throught he sale of the Hilton Hotels group to The Blackstone Group for a cool $20bn, is "embarrassed" by Paris's excesses, which of course include amateur porn flicks and a spell in chokey on a drink-drive rap.

We have no doubt he's more impressed by his granddaughter's proposed charitable trip to Rwanda, although a firm date for the mercy dash has not yet been set. ®
