Voting Machines

Thumb Down

e-Voting machines are just fucking stupid. Security concerns aside, e-voting schemes actually cost more than manual machines, they are overly complicated, and are prone to failure.

We did a study for one of the primary e-voting machine vendors and figure there's an 8 year event horizon for proper, sustainable, functionality - it's going to be a long time before they get this right.

Just no need

Voting machines in my opinion are a solution without a problem and a solution that introduces further more serious problems.

Who exactly is driving the grab for voting machines, lobbyist representing the industry most likely.

What is wrong with a pen, a voting card and an X in the preferred part. How hard is that? The disabled or infirm can be helped out and most importantly its as idiot proof as anything can be!

Oh yes and it provides a physical audit trail as well for recounts and disputes which incidentally happen less when manual counting is utilised.

Why oh why oh why must the weaken such a resilient system that works, is more secure, more idiot proof and only marginally slower and probably cheaper.

I thought surety of votes was important or has the UK and the US forgotten the recent election snafus including the prosecution in the UK for electoral fraud over postal votes, the hanging chads of 2000 presidential vote fame, the spoilt ballots of the Scottish Parliament cock up, the 2004 Presidential Vote scandal in which several election monitors recorded irregularities with supply of machines in certain deprived areas although since the election committees are non politically independent (Florida) what can you expect.

This is just Republicans trying to enable vote-stealing.

Jobs Horns

yawn, I wish the republicans were efficient and organized enough to stage such a wide, vasts and efficient conspiracy. It would show they could run the government.

This isn't "faked the moon landings" level of conspiracy we're talking about.

This is voter caging lists that are 900 times more likley to incorrectly identify you as a criminal if you are black rather than white. Proven

This is providing too few working voting machines in heavily democratic districts and plenty of machines in republican districts. Proven

This is failing to count all of the votes even though the remainging uncounted votes totalled more than the majority held by the "winning" candidate. Proven

It's actually fairly simple when the people charged with ensuring the fairness of the election are mostly members/supporters of the same party. It's much easier to steal a government than run one.

@Republicans stealing votes, doesn't matter which

It's not the Republicans or the Democrats either it is the Money Party that runs both of those.

Dumping or ignoring old style paper votes is just control, spending the tax dole on big corporations is control and wealth.
