LogicaCMG finds itself a CEO at BT

Shares jump

Andy Green is to become CEO of LogicaCMG, having been enticed away from BT after 21 years with the UK's incumbent telco.

Shares in LogicaCMG jumped almost seven per cent on the announcement.

Green joined BT in 1986 when the world of telecommunications was a very different place - the company had only just been privatised, analogue mobile phones were available only to the most successful spiv, and a broad-band was some form of cummerbund.

He stepped up to the board of BT in 2001, and six months ago became chief executive of BT Group Strategy and Operations, a post he'll be leaving before starting with LogicaCMG in January.

Green won't be losing touch with his old mates, though. LogicaCMG and BT have a close working relationship and one that Andy's move will only reinforce as he starts trying to claw back the other 13 per cent that LogicaCMG shares have dropped since the start of 2007. ®
