Supposing that current government and police force are competent, well intentioned and honest, then perhaps we have nothing to fear from a 'database state' where increasing amounts of data are collected on us. But what possible assurance can we have regarding the intentions or use of this data by future governments?
Possibly it is the database developers themselves who can best appreciate the risks involved in indexing so much personal data.
