According to internal police sources (http://coppersblog.blogspot.com/2007/07/hi-folks.html), the aquaplod in question were "Special" constables, aka "Play Cops", and are "now all in deep water" as a result of their mishap. As the Blogger in Blue puts it: "Classic stuff and proof, my informant tells me, that lack of intelligence is no bar to joining Derbyshire Police." ®
