Up to 300 UK staff at outsourcing colossus CSC face the sack on Monday, as the firm ramps up a programme of brutal cutbacks.
Sources say compulsory redundancy notices, part of a company-wide restructuring, will be handed out across Regional and Global Operations, Global Solutions & Technology, Global Security Services, and Business Management divisions.
CSC has not had enough volunteers for a redundancy package which was offered on 16 April. In an internal email yesterday, it appealed for more takers to nudge it closer to the target of 500 in this round, but made it clear that colmpusory cuts are inevitable.
In a statement, CSC told The Reg: "This is the part of the restructuring programme that is currently underway to align our skill base to those demanded by our clients. Where we can we retrain and redeploy staff but we also have to infuse brand new skills, often people with experienced sector specific knowledge."
It said recruitment in other areas in Europe would mean overall staff numbers will stay level this year.
CSC employs about 9,000 people in the UK. The restructuring plan, announced last year when the wobbling giant was subject to takeover approaches, aims to cut 5,000 jobs, mainly in Europe.
The firm missed its revenue targets last week, but grew profits and said it would double its Indian workforce. ®
