but let's face it, guys in kent get confused between women and dogs when choosing girlfriends in kent anyway, how're they going to differentiate between the different types of dolphin?

Because of course you'd expect the residents of Kent to know the difference between common and bottle-nosed varieties?

Seriously though, why would you harass a dolphin? Jet skiing at it etc is really nasty. What a bunch of twunts. they should all have the book thrown at them - if this were a gorilla, appart from them being dead-by-gorilla, they would be awaiting court right now. I chose gorilla because they have a similar mental level - problem solving abilities, able to learn basic communication etc.

Waaaayyyy back in the 1950s (1955) in New Zealand, a young (they think it was underage, and hadn't been weaned before losing its mother) bottlenose dolphin visited the town of Opononi.

This dolphin, called Opo by the locals, was very gentle, and loved interacting with humans. In over four months, during summer, no person was ever injured by Opo.

A group of children once formed a ring (by linking hands), into which Opo swam in, tossed a ball in the air, and swam out.

National protection was requested for Opo, which was granted. However, on the night she was granted official protection, Opo vanished.

Two days later she was found, dead, her body wedged between rocks.

It is the opinion of many that she was scared by a gelignite blast (gelignite was often used to stun fish - they'd float to the surface and be collected). Such an underwater blast would have concussed her, and ruined her echo location ability.

This theory is likely because Opo was in the habit of staying near humans - even the ones in boats.

What is uncertain is whether the blast was deliberate - many think it was, since the entire town knew Opo's habits.

So protect your friendly dolphin.
