HDS gets new UK channel salesman

Indirect ambitions

Storage vendor Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has taken on a new UK sales boss with the aim of increasing its stake in the indirect channel market.

Neil Evans, who previously ran his own technology consultancy business, SolutionsMTD Limited, will head up all indirect business in the UK, which includes value-added distributors and resellers.

HDS also hopes Evans will build on the firm's key relationships with Sun Microsystems and Unisys.

HDS managing director for UK and Ireland Steve Murphy said: "Neil's in-depth understanding and impressive track record in the channel will be extremely valuable as we look to accelerate our indirect strategy."

Evans has 20 years' experience working in the UK channel having held roles at Computercenter, Metrologie UK, and PCL Computer Services.

HDS is following what is becoming a well-worn path for technology firms adopting a solutions-focused strategy for its partners.

Speaking about his new role, Evans said: "I feel that my experience building and running a start-up has helped me understand the challenges our partners face as they grow their business, and I look forward to working closely with them." ®
