I applaud your pointing out the flaw with Google, but from my PC here all I can see on the Reg page is the SUN logo on a nice purple banner. Admittedly, I did see a quick flash of St Georges flag, but those buggers at SUN plonked themselves right on top of it :)

So St George's Day got missed again. So it was last there in 2002. At least St George's Day has had some recognition. On the 2002 Google logo, it was marked "St George's Day - UK", yet it's England that bothers about it. Us poor Scots have had no St Andrew's Day logos, nor even recognition by Google at all.

Get over yourselves.

If Google are willing to ignore the English for a day, then the English should be willing to ignore Google for a day.

From now on, every St. George's Day shall also be No Google Day.

Maybe I'm wrong but I'm sure that on St Patricks Day, Google was rife with Shamrocks and other such Irish paraphanalia. Yet on St Georges day there's not a red cross, dragon or knight in shining armour in sight.

The English always manage to celebrate the day to be Irish (more because it's a great reason to get bladdered than because they might be one 2000th Irish) but St George gets overlooked?

Is Google run by Paddy Power or vegans dispising the idea of a living creature being slaughtered?

Because the fancy St George banner you've created is swiftly overwritten by a SUN sponsored one that's all in blue.

Surely Google much be considered as discriminating against the English as they are happy to stick up other countries national day emblems.

As the story back in 2004 highlighted, Google missed it then and apologised but then they go and do it again this year. Think there's to it they admit.

Think it's about time Google finally gives a truthful answer to why they won't support it!

El Reg may be proudly celebrating the day, but the effect is somewhat spoiled (at least from where I'm looking) by the Cross of St. George being stomped on by Sun Purple after ~0.5 seconds.

If the register is celebrating St Georges (as I have seen the banner appropriately decorated when it's not turned Sun purple) then why is the regular red banner atop this story?

If it is not something that is celebrated by the USA then it is usually ignored by the beomoth that is Google.

Did a quick look & St Patrick is celebrated every year what a surprise.

Unlike St. Patrick & St. David - St. George is largely a mythological character and to confuse matters he is also the patron of Canada, Catalonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Montenegro, Portugal and Serbia. He was most likely an Arab (Palestinian or possibly Turkish) he never came to Britain and is not the original patron saint of England (he replaced St. Edmund around 1350). St Andrew was probably Greek.

I guess it is difficult to justify getting enthusiastic about someone so vague and who has little connection with any of "his" patronised countries.

At least The Irish and the Welsh have saints who came for these Islands (even if St Patrick was a Brython not a Gael)...

Anyway I see no celebration of St. George here. The red cross title comes up only to be overwritten immediately by your blue "ad" title. Empty threats and false claims eh ?

All I can see up top on these pages is either the standard red or a flash of white and red covered up hastily by a Sun advert. Patron Saint days are not for big monolithic companies - they should be for the facist or drunk instead.

The English have pretty much got it sewn up in the UK anyway. They've been in control for the last few hundred years and they never let anyone forget about it. As for the casual, blatant racism that the English show towards their Scottish and Welsh neighbours- well, how about you just cut that out, eh? Then you can get a little bit more respect, and not until.

If you Brits would just follow the lead of the Irish and add beer-drinking and public exposition to St. George's Day, then none of this would be a problem!

I am NOT a rabid English Nationalist but I do love my country and gave 22 years of my life to it and to you in the Royal Air Force, prepared to die if necessary.
