Need enhanced data security? Try a condom

Google recommends prophylaxis

SANS - Survey on application security programs

In these data uncertain times, it's reassuring to know that the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council is doing everything possible to ensure that your personal details are locked down against abuse.

For those of you not au fait with the council's invaluable work, its aim is to "enhance payment account data security by fostering broad adoption of the PCI Security Standards" by developing, maintaining and distributing the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS).

Good show. However, and as one reader found out when doing an image search in the hope of trawling up the PCI DSS logo, Google reckons there's a latex-based solution for unauthorised system penetration:

Google image search for 'PCI security' shows packet of Durex

Crikey. We asked Norton Internet Security for details on how to implement the prophylactic PCI security barrier, but were told all the technical staff were away for a week field testing the device in a hotel in Brighton. ®

Ta very much to Dave Wray for the enlightening security tip-off.
