Czech anti-virus firm GRISoft is targeting the small and medium sized business market with revamped versions of its network security products.

Versions of its AVG Small Business Server for Internet Security and Anti-Malware are designed to protect the file access and email servers of smaller firms from virus infestation and other malware risks. Both products include a remote administration tool (AVGADMIN) that, for example, allow sys admins to apply security updates with minimum fuss.

GRISoft is best known for its AVG Free Edition, which provides basic anti-virus protection to consumers at home at no charge. The firm is looking to take advantage of the name recognition advantage that comes from this free offering in order to grow the market share of its commercial products. The SME market, where players such as Panda Software and Kaspersky Labs are strong, is a key target for GRISoft.

Based on AVG Internet Security Network Edition 7.5, the SBS version includes anti-virus and anti-spyware protection as well as personal firewall and anti-spam clients for individual workstations. Licensing prices start at $340 for five concurrent users and one file or email server, with different packages supporting up to 100 concurrent users.

AVG Anti-Malware SBS Edition includes a cut-down version that offers the benefits of AVG Anti-Malware Network Edition 7.5, including protection against viruses, spyware, Trojans, and other forms of malware. The product comes bundled with a personal firewall for clients, but not the anti-spam protection that features in AVG SBS for Internet Security. AVG Anti-Malware SBS Edition pricing begins at $289 for five concurrent users and a file server, with pricier packages covering up to 100 users. ®
