Fujitsu has introduced what it claims is the World's first 2.5in, 7,200rpm 3Gbps SATA hard drive, a notebook-oriented unit with a raw storage capacity of 160GB.

The MHW2160BJ won't be available for laptop manufacturers to build into machines until the end of May - not coincidentally the same month in which Intel is expected to launch [1] the next major incarnation of its Centrino notebook platform, codenamed 'Santa Rosa'.

Fujitsu also touted the drive's low power consumption: no more than 2.3W, even when data is being read or written. The MHW2160BJ is quiet too, its manufacturer claimed.
