PCA expels two members

Not up to scratch

The Professional Computer Association (PCA) is throwing out two companies for failing to follow its code of practice.

Vantage Computers, or Vantage Direct, of Westgate in Kent, has been kicked out for failing to respond to association complaints about customer service and failing to refund at least one customer's pre-payment. Repeated attempts by the PCA to get a response from Vantage have failed.

The other firm to get the boot is Genie Support Services, which trades as CPU Direct from offices in north London. It has been expelled from the PCA for continuing to promote itself as endorsed by the PCA and official provider of insurance services to the PCA - neither of which is true. Genie also failed to live up to the PCA's customer service standards.

Both companies must now stop using the PCA logo in any marketing material.

PCA CEO Keith Warburton said: "By expelling these two companies the PCA is acting to protect both the reputation of the organisation and the industry at large – and of course, the consumer. Customers must be able to rely on suppliers that sign up to the PCA's Code of Practice to treat them fairly and justly." ®
