Panic ye not - you will have the opportunity to spend hours in the freezing cold queueing overnight to get your hands on a PlayStation 4, risking a cap in the a**, a Sony executive has revealed, but not before 2010. Just as well - Europeans haven't got their hands on the PS3 yet, let alone its successor, and won't until March 2007.

So said Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) Europe's VP of Technology, Paul Holman, according to a report by Australian site Smarthouse.

Holman was responding to a claim made by Nomura analyst Yuta Sakurai that SCE's recent management reshuffle will mean a PS4 is unlikely.

"The appointment of Hirai could be the start of a shift from hardware to software," Sakurai said. "I cannot now imagine a PlayStation 4."

Rubbish, said Holman. "To say that there will be no PS4 because of a management change is a bit far fetched."
