Keep your shirt on
Air guitar gets licked
You can now make music as you strum the air thanks to those well-known lovers of rock... er... Australian scientists.
A t-shirt has been created at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) which picks up air guitar gestures via sensors in the elbows and sleeves.
As you rock out the sensors detect your arm movements, one chooses chords, while the other strums imaginary strings. This picks up guitar samples turning your humble attire into a "wearable instrument".
"It allows you to jump around and the sound generated is just like an original mp3," said CSIRO engineer Richard Helmer.
But what does this new invention mean for serious air guitar aficionados?
Well, you don't need to be a skilled instrumentalist or a total geek to make your air guitar efforts come to life as it's very "easy-to-use", so maybe the playing field has just been blown wide open.
Go get your rocks off here . ®
