Siemens Business Services rejigged again
It's like Trotsky's permanent revolution...
Siemens Business Services (SBS) is reorganising and renaming itself again, as it bundles all its IT and software activities into one company.
SBS becomes SIS - Siemens IT Solutions and Services - which will be made up of four groups: program and system engineering (PSE), Siemens Information Systems Ltd (SISL), development, innovation and projects (DIP), and the business innovation centre (BIC). The changes will take effect in January 2007.
SBS underwent similar restructurings in 2005, and again in 2006. The company is still aiming for savings of €1.5bn by spring 2007.
Jobs are likely to be lost as a result of this cost-cutting. Siemens is currently negotiating with employee representatives and the IG Metall union.
The release says: "Concluding current negotiations is therefore a decisive prerequisite for finalising the setup of Siemens IT Solutions and Services in Germany." Getting rid of staff is a slow and expensive task in Germany.
