Nokia dials up Express Music phone family?

Yoof-friendly design

Nokia is gearing up to launch a pair of music-centric mobile phones, according to a Russian handset retailer's website. The site's pictures of the products certainly tally with blurry photos of the devices that popped up on the web last month.

According to Russian-language retail site Dixis, the Nokia 5300 Express Music sports a 2in, 240 x 320, 262,144-colour display and a 1.3 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom. It takes Micro SD cards. Bluetooth is part of the spec, and the phone is a GSM/GPRS/EDGE device.

Like the 5300, the Nokia 3250 Express Music sports dedicated music control keys and the same red-on-white colour scheme. While the 5300 appears to be a new device, the 3250 is a revival of an older model: there's the same 176 x 208, 262,144-colour display as the regular 3250, the same twist-round keypad, two megapixel camera, 10MB of on-board memory, Micro SD card slot, and tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support.

There's no indication when - or if - these handsets will ship. ®
