Next week's Patch Tuesday, Microsoft's monthly security update, will see the release of nine security updates, some of which are deemed critical.

The updates will fix various known security holes and change the way Internet Explorer deals with ActiveX - used by web pages for multimedia functions. The changes to ActiveX are related to Microsoft's ongoing patent dispute with Eolas Technologies.

One security bulletin deals with a hole in Microsoft Exchange and two relate to Microsoft Office. The software giant is also updating the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
