Symantec coughs to security hole in its AV software

Symantec disclosed this week that researchers have discovered a software vulnerability that could allow hackers to take remote control of a PC and that it is working to verify the hole and provide a patch.
And the software in question? Symantec's AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.x. Oops.
The security giant said it had been notified about the "potential remotely exploitable vulnerability", which was apparently discovered by security outfit eEye Digital Security. It said it was investigating the report, and would provide product updates as required.
Symantec was at pains to point out that its mass market Norton products are not affected.
More importantly, it said no customers had been affected and there is no known exploit. ®
