3 Italy faces porn probe

TV exposé shows kids downloading smut

3 Italia is being investigated by the Italian communications ministry after a TV exposé showed children downloading dodgy content.

The porn probe is targeting video content streamed to mobile phones. The ministry also suggested the Italian judiciary might look at closer regulation for mobile services.

3 Italia said in a statement it was suspending adult services until the situation was clarified. More from Reuters here.

A spokeswoman for 3 UK said the company did offer adult services here but they are protected by PIN number so children are excluded.

The Italian porn industry was thrown into militant chaos last December when former prime minister Berlusconi threatened to impose a 20 per cent tax on selling or renting smutty films. The money raised would have gone to pay for childcare for single mums.®
