Here's a quickie that we thought we'd share with you in the wake of yesterday's latest and highly-agreeable beer revelation (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/03/06/beer_effects/). Take it away Neil:

After discovering that beer fights heart disease, I decided to 'medicate' myself the other night and found another excellent side-effect.

Having very little cash, I decided to forego the chippy and had a pint instead. With the remainder I purchased a lottery scratchcard on the off-chance I might get lucky, and won £70. Ergo, beer makes you rich.

I had steak that night. Tasty.

Well, that's official then. Not only does it make you clever (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/04/29/booze_makes_you_clever/), fight cancer (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/01/20/beer_fights_cancer/) and keep your ticker in good shape, but beer also lines your pockets with cash. Is there no end to its miracle properties? ®

For our extra-UK readers, "chippy" = fish and chip shop, a traditional late-night meeting point where people staggering home from the pub can find battered sausages to satisfy their acute drunken lust for processed meat products.
