Agentless Backup is Not a Myth
Western Digital has upped the capacity of its Passport external hard disk drive to 120GB. The drives are based on WD's own Scorpio line of 2.5in notebook-oriented HDDs, and since they too were recently upgraded [1] to 120GB, it's no surprise that the Passport series now offers that capacity in addition to the 40, 60, 80 and 100GB versions already shipping.
The drives are bus-powered and require a free USB 2.0 port. Inside the 14.4 x 8.9 x 2.1cm shell - which WD describes as "a textured, non-slip rugged protective case" - the Scorpio runs at 5,400rpm and incorporates 2MB of cache. It offers a mean seek time of 12ms.
WD said the drives are shipping now and will set UK buyers back around £159 inc. VAT - US consumers will pay around $200. Completists can purchase a carry-case for an extra £20/$25. ®
