MS seeks feedback on IE7 beta 2

Beginner's guide to SSL certificates

Microsoft has released a preview of its upcoming Internet Explorer 7.0 web browser. IE7 beta 2 contains new features such as tabbed browsing, functions that make it easier to subscribe to RSS feeds, and a revamped interface with a streamlined toolbar, as explained in an animated tour here.

The 11.2MB download also comes with technology designed to alert users if they stray onto fraudulent phishing websites.

Redmond is soliciting feedback on the software, in particular it wants system admins to test access to their sites using the new browser. Early reaction has been mixed with both praise and gripes emerging from trialists.

IE7 beta 2 is only available as a download for Windows XP SP2 users. First impressions are that Microsoft has added features in its browser to match those already available to either Firefox or Opera users, for example, the introduction of tabbed browsing.

Users can make up their own minds by downloading the software themselves. ®
