The PeopleSoft enterprise suite has been certified to run on Java and web services implementations from database giant Oracle.

Oracle said Tuesday PeopleSoft has been tested and certified with its Fusion 10g Release 2 middleware. The fusion middleware spans a number of Oracle web services, service oriented architecture (SOA), collaboration and identity management products.

Certification means PeopleSoft can be modified using Oracle's JDeveloper integrated development environment (IDE) and run on Oracle Containers for Java. Data in PeopleSoft applications can also be accessed through Oracle's portal.

Business processes can also be composed and orchestrated using Oracle's Enterprise Service Bus and Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) Process Manager.

Certification comes nearly a year after Oracle purchased PeopleSoft, and Oracle said this latest step demonstrated its commitment to delivering a "comprehensive, hot-pluggable family of middleware products."®
