Taiwan court enforces London judgement

channel

Business services group DCC has claimed victory over Taiwan's Pihsiang Machinery Manufacturing Company following a long-running legal dispute over a product supply agreement.

Irish-based DCC had pursued Pihsiang Machinery Manufacturing Company Ltd, its chairman and major shareholder, Donald Wu, and his wife and fellow director, Jenny Wu, through the Taiwanese courts in a bid to enforce a judgement made by the London High Court in January 2004.

According to DCC, the dispute followed the defendants’ breach of a long-term product supply agreement with DCC subsidiary Days Healthcare

The Taiwanese courts have ordered that the London ruling be enforced in Taiwan, meaning the company and the Wus are jointly and severally liable to pay DCC £14m in damages and costs awarded by the London court, including £1.8m in interest. The defendants are entitled to appeal the judgement to the Taiwan High Court.®
