Albatron intros 'easy connect' Intel SLi mobo

'Pedal-less design'

Albatron today introduced an SLi-enabled motherboard targeting Intel processors, touting the board's ability to dispense with the daughtercard usually required to activate SLi.

Based on Nvidia's nForce 4 SLi Intel Edition chipset, Albatron's PX19-SLi supports dual-core processors, a 1066MHz frontside bus and 667MHz DDR 2 SDRAM. For SLi operation, it boasts twin PCI Express x16 slots.

Dubbing the PX19-SLI a "pedal-less design", Albatron said the board already includes all the SLi-activation circuitry, allowing users simply to plug in a second SLi-compatible graphics card to begin using Nvidia's co-operative rendering system.

The board also provides Gigabit Ethernet, six-channel audio and Serial ATA 2 with RAID. Albatron said it had ditched legacy parallel and serial ports, replacing them with "additional" USB ports, an RCA digital audio output port and a slot for the company's proprietary energy-preserving and temperature-reducing Power II add-in card.

Albatron said the mobo incorporates its Albatron BIOS Security system, build around a removable circuit board with its own back-up BIOS, allowing ineffective BIOS and system tweaks to be quickly reversed.

Albatron said the PX19-SLI will ship around the world late October/early November. Pricing has yet to be set. ®
