Euro PC sales creep up in April

But German, Swiss sales fall off cliff

In brief Consumers rode to the European PC market’s rescue in the April, bringing five consecutives months of decline to an end. Market researchers Context said that overall European sales in April were up 0.9 per cent on the year.

This was all down to the consumer market, which showed a 7.2 per cent rise in sales, compared to a fall of 3.5 per cent in the business market. France and Spain showed the biggest rises, with overall sales up 24.6 per cent and 20.3 per cent respectively. Consumer sales in the two countries were up a cracking 43.3 per cent and 45.6 per cent. Germany and Switzerland saw massive drops in the business PC market – 18 per cent and 36.7 per cent respectively – leading to overall falls in sales of 15.3 per cent and 21.9 per cent.®
