CA snaps up Niku

It's all about the governance

In brief Computer Associates is shelling out $350m to take over IT governance software vendor Niku. The buy, at a price of $21 per Niku share, is CA’s third in the last year. Previous buys have included Netegrity for $430m, and Concord Communications for $350m.

Niku will be integrated with CA's Business Service Optimization (BSO) unit headed up by senior vice president and general manager Jacob Lamm. Niku president and CEO Joshua Pickus will become CA’s senior vice president of business service optimization.

The minor buying spree has come despite CA's own ongoing transformation in the wake of a big accounting scandal. The company said it will restate five years of results, and has reshaped its top management and its business unit structure. ®
