TDC has snapped up the business arm of Ascom's Swiss division - which provides LAN services - for DKK161m (£14.6m).

Danish outfit TDC said the deal - which still needs regulatory approval - makes TDC Switzerland a major player in the provision of integrated IP-based communications solutions for the business market.

Hans Peter Baumgartner, chief exec of TDC Switzerland, said that Ascom Business Communications IP/LAN networks and systems integration services would enable it to provide voice, data, images, and network services to business customers.

Ascom Switzerland employs some 300 staff in its business solutions division and boasts around 1,300 business punters. ®
