BT has tightened security at its telephone exchange in St Albans after thieves nicked £100,000 of computer and IT gear.
Three laptops, a load of chips and a "large computer" were filched, reports (http://www.hertsad.co.uk/content/herts/news/story.aspx?brand=HADOnline&category=News&tBrand=herts24&tCategory=newshertsad&itemid=WEED17%20Mar%202005%2012%3A02%3A34%3A870) The Herts Advertiser.
The crooks used a ladder to get into the first floor of the exchange, but cops are still scratching their heads as to how they made off with all the clobber.
A BT spokesman confirmed the gear had been nicked but didn't have any other details.
No one from Hertfordshire police was available for comment at the time of writing. ®
