Mandrakesoft, the French Linux distie, is bulking up by buying Brazil-based Linux distributor Conectiva for $2.3m in stock.
Conectiva, was founded in 1995 and employs 60 people, mainly in Brazil. The company recorded $2.2m in sales in their latest audited fiscal year. It reached break-even during its latest fiscal half-year, according to a statement [1]. In its latest fiscal year, Mandrakesoft's revenues reached $6.7m for a net income of $1.8m.
Mandrakesoft and Conectiva arefounding members of the Linux Core Consortium (LCC), which has recently started development of a common implementation of the Linux Standard Base. The post-merger distro will build its next corporate releases on top of the LCC implementation. ®
