The Essential Guide to IT Transformation

UK public-access Wi-Fi provider Broadreach Networks announced today that its ReadyToSurf Internet access service has pushed out rival WISP Swisscom from UK motorway stops run by Moto.

Moto maintains 43 locations adjacent to the UK's motorway network, all of which will now gain ReadyToSurf fixed Internet access terminals and Wi-Fi in the restaurant areas.

Moto's decision to drop Swisscom and partner instead with Broadreach was motivated by the company's joint wired-wireless approach, which differentiates Broadreach from almost all of its competitors in the UK Wi-Fi market. Moto said this dual-strand strategy best matched its "customer needs" and provided a "fully inclusive experience".

Broadreach spilled the beans on the deal in a letter to customers last month, but today marked Moto's formal statement on the partnership. Broadreach runs more than 350 Internet access locations in the UK, including Virgin Megastores, Little Chef restaurants, Travelodge hotels, Sainsbury's supermarkets and EAT cafes. ®
