Australian Idol fans directed to gay porn site

Poptastic ad gaffe

Free whitepaper – Systems management simplified

We're absolutely delighted to announce that Australian Idol - the Antipodean version of Pop Idol, the X-Factor and the sewerful of copycat music talent shows currently swilling across our TV screens - has been won by 16-year-old Casey Donovan. Vulture Central is not, however, as ecstatic as local telco Telstra's internet tentacle - BigPond - which took took out half-page ads in Melbourne's Herald Sun and Sydney's Daily Telegraph to celebrate this world-changing event.

Unfortunately, a "simple human error in the last-minute preparation of the ad" directed fans not to caseydonovan.com.au - where you can find out everything you need to know about "one of the rising stars in the music industry" - but rather to caseydonovan.com, the home of "the Internet's best selection of Casey Donovan Discount Gay DVD & VHS Gay Video Titles".

Pure class. We hope that porn-busting Aussie senator Richard Alston is as we speak moving for a total shutdown of the internet across the Lucky Country in response to this outrage. We cannot imagine a more full-frontal assault on common decency and family values. ®
