SurfControl distributes email mailing list

To recipients of data confidentiality report

SurfControl yesterday issued an exciting press release outlining "the dangers facing businesses who do not protect their e-mail communications against confidential data loss".

As is the local custom, the release was sent by email to a long list of eager recipients. Sadly, the operative responsible has clearly never considered protecting their email communications against confidential data loss by using the handy blind copying facility:

UK Businesses Unable to Stop Confidential Data Being Leaked Through E-mail

SurfControl survey reveals that erroneously sent confidential information is rife in UK business

Manchester, UK, (June 14th 2004) - Findings from a UK survey commissioned by SurfControl (London: SRF), the World's number one Web and e-mail filtering company, reveal the dangers facing businesses who do not protect their e-mail communications against confidential data loss. The survey found that 39% of workers interviewed have received confidential information via e-mail that was not intended for them. Of this number 26% confirmed that the information was sent to them from an external source. SurfControl offers UK organisations free access to an online 'Enterprise Risk Audit' which gives IT staff and company executives the opportunity to undertake an online audit of their confidential data risks from: www.surfcontrol.com/go/erauk <http://www.surfcontrol.com/go/erauk>

We have, of course, concealed the identities of those who are now enjoying SurfControl's wisdom in this matter. ®
